Baltic Sea 2020 and the Stockholm Resilience Centre has analyzed how fishing has been managed in different parts of the world to investigate whether there are any methods that can be implemented in the Baltic Sea region. Mike Sissenwine and David Symes, experts in fisheries and fisheries management, led the work. The basis of the report was to review scientific literature on the subject and a workshop with participants from NGOs, the fishing industry and the scientific world. Then the project team focused on three countries: Norway, USA and Canada to see if their methods could contribute to the EU Common Fisheries Policy.
