BalticSea2020 wants to congratulate Mr. Chris Davies, ALDE UK, who yesterday received an award in the category environment at the MEP Awards 2014. The MEP Awards is hosted by The Parliament Magazine in Brussels, to recognize the hard work done by MEPs in the past year.
Chris Davies received the award on the environment for initiating the cross party group Fish For the Future (FFF), and on account of their hard work during the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy. Fish For the Future has ensured that the Parliament supports a fisheries legislation that value profitable and sustainable fisheries. Learn more about FFF here.
How the awards works:
- EU policy stakeholders are asked to submit their choice for which MEP they think as made an excellent contribution in an EU policy area which they work in. Stakeholders who nominate are asked to explain in around 350 words why their choice deserves to win in the category they've nominated them in.
- The nominations are collated by The Parliament Magazine and a shortlist for each category is drawn up. The shortlist is decided by which three MEPs The Parliament Magazine feels has the strongest case to be shortlisted based on the arguments made by the organisations who have nominated them.
- The shortlist is announced and voting is opened to all MEPs. Only MEPs can vote.
- The results are collated by The Parliament Magazine and announced at the MEP Awards ceremony held on 18 March 2014 at the Concert Noble in Brussels.
