The potential of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development to address diffuse pollution from agriculture and consequent eutrophication of the Baltic marine environment

Diffuse pollution from agriculture and over exploitation of fishery resources are considered as two huge problems facing the sustainable management of the Baltic marine environment.

In 2007 a new programme for the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) was to be implemented, a programme that would concern all Baltic Sea states, except for Russia.

In the study “The potential of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development to address diffuse pollution from agriculture and consequent eutrophication of the Baltic marine environment” the impact on the Baltic Sea of the programme was analysed. The results are presented in the report (to the right).
