Baltic Cod gets red light in WWF´s seafood guide

Today, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) released its annual seafood guide, which advises consumers who want to make informed choices when purchasing seafood. In this year's seafood guide, trawled cod from the eastern Baltic Sea is classified with red light (don´t buy).

This means that all Baltic Sea cod now have red light in WWF's seafood guide. WWF believes that the cod in the Baltic Sea must have a chance to recover.

WWF assesses the wild species according to three criteria: how stocks are affected, the effects of fishing on the ecosystem and if control and management are sustainable.

You can read more about this year's seafood guide on WWF's website (only in Swedish).
